Hello Walk-tee,
Through Life yes we meet different people - I am sure that in life we meet people either for a reason a season or a lifetime.
It sounds as if Norman made an impression on you which will last a life time which is good.
You can meet someone at the petrol station, supermarket or wherever but I am a firm believer that you were meant to meet that person for a reason - Maybe to help them or maybe just a smile can make a difference.
So the next time someone touches your life say it was meant to be.
Take care x

My now long-dead grandmother made the biggest impression on me. Her husband died when he was only 32, and she had to bring up three girls on her own, and start a career to support them. Her outlook on life was unfailingly cheerful, even though she must have been terribly alone and lonely at times. She never made a fuss or a drama over things, even when, as a child, I broke her favourite ornament which had been the last gift her husband ever gave her. She told me 'it was only a thing.... it's PEOPLE that matter in this world". Somehow that comment made a big impression on me, and has stuck with me through life.
