Think about how Americans reacted to the Vietnam and Iraq wars. I think the answer is clear...so why does Washington keep giving us war?

Alexandra, I appreciate your answer, but the UN has been trying to STOP our foreign entanglements, like our one in Iraq.

I think Americans want peace. The problem, as I see it, is with this "New World Order" and it's proponents, NeoCons and Liberals alike, want conquests throughout the world to enforce their agenda. They want POWER because of what they get when they have the POWER, your money in the form of TAXES.

To quote a Nazi, " Why of course the people don’t want war. … That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders." –Hermann Goering, Adolph Hitler’s heir-apparent. This is true in the U.S. regardless who was in office in the past hundred or so years. Why were we involved in WW I, WW II, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Iraq I, Iraq II? Answer this question for yourself.

And this, "There is more propaganda in a democracy than in a dictatorship. … The United States is unusual among the industrial democracies in the rigidity of the system of ideological control -’indoctrination,’ we might say - exercised through the mass media." –Seminal linguist Noam Chomsky.

So what's the solution? Elect 'officials' that will follow the Constitution as originally wiritten. After all, it is the Law of the Land, the "Pursuance Clause", isn't it? Says so in the Constitution. (Article VI, Section II, "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land;" ...) So, if the laws do no "pursue the elements of the Constitution then they are not the Law of the Land". This should give anyone pause to not trust the media, whether liberal or conservative, elected officials, whether liberal or conservative, or government in general, whether liberal or conservatie, because regardless where they come down on the issues, there is always an agenda, either power or money. There is nothing else.

It's time to elect a Constitutionalist for Presidet and for the various Federal and State legislatures, a person who doesn't have a "dog in the fight". The current crop of candidates, except for one, "have a dog in the fight". That 'one' is Ron Paul. He is a person who truly cares about this country and it's people. One who truly cares about YOU. He is onw who truly wants what is best for America and it's people.

Got a better candidate, convince me.

Of course they want a peaceful foreign policy. Just because we want peace dose not mean we should be weak in foreign policy. I agree with the statement that imperialism is not good in this global economy but to isolate ourselves and turn a blind eye to the injustices going on in the world would be to repeat the same mistake American made prior to WWII.

The American people do not want to fight wars for no just cause or reason. They also do not want wars based on profits for oil companies. To tell the truth they never WANT war but they will fight to defend their country and their nation’s legitimate interests.

Most of the people who accuse us of being Imperialist are comparing us to the most famous of them all, Japan. We have no interest in setting up puppet governments and dominating the world, we only want to protect ourselves and democracy.

I think in the case of Iraq, the reason is the promise of more cheap oil. But overall, it's just the continuation of a policy this country has promoted for a long time. When you have large segments of our economy that depend on the military industrial complex--you're going to see war. Americans say they don't want it...but they are not exactly stopping it either. I think most of them are at the mall.

Think about how treasonous liberal Democrats reacted to Vietnam : Slandering our troops; openly siding with the Communist who were invading a brave little country - as well as against our American troops , & today in Iraq . Don't even try & speak for ALL Americans . We were attacked on our shores . We took the fight to them ; to the terrorists . Here at home , liberal Democrats do everything in their power to loose in Iraq -while they shed crocodile tears for the troops they prove to hate . Washington didn't give those thousands who perished , war on 9/11 . When are you wacko liberals going to admit it was terrorism ? When are YOU going to fight for your country ; instead of fighting the war on the War on Terror . When will you STOP blaming America , first ???

War is good for business.

As a conservative and fundamentalist Christian, I want an isolationist policy. No foreign entanglements. Get the UN out of the US and vice-versa.

Washington keeps giving us war because it is for the corporate military and oil interests, not the people's interests. I don't want empire because we all know what happens to empires, they die horrible deaths and democracy is usually crushed in the process. Peaceful foreign policy with a level head is much prefered. But to do so means we must take corporate interests out of our political process and out of the political picture entirely in Washington.

Most Americans are more concerned about who won the game and/or celebrity gossip to care about such things. The politicians and the two major parties are content with keeping the people dumbed-down so they are easier to dupe and manipulate. Sad.

Washington is about the economy. War is needed to fuel the economy. So when the economy is suffering, there is nothing that will help it grow like a good old-fashioned war.

They don't give a sh*t about the American people once they've succesfully seduced their constituents to vote them into office. (Granted, there are exceptions to this rule - but they are few and far between.)

I, for one, would prefer peace.

Sometimes you foreigners, don't know what goes on in the USA.
