Does anyone have some advice on how to get a medical/health book published. I am currently writing a book about Lupus and young women. This is my first attempt at a book. I have no experience with editors or publishers and I don't want to be thrown in their trash pile immediately ;) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again ~

Contrary to the advice already given, you do not necessarily need an agent. What you do need is a copy of Writer's Market 2007. In there you will find information on publishers that accept non-fiction and on what topics they accept submissions. They will also tell you if they will only deal with agents or will deal directly with you.

Get a copy of Writers Market and see which agents or small publishers are reading non-fiction health issue books. You might also contact the lupus foundation and ask them if they can make some recommendations. Maybe you can donate part of the proceeds to lupus research. My sister in law has it and so does my writing partner's granddaughter. Good luck C.

Submit your manuscript to agents. You'll need a literary agent first of all to even get your foot in the door with the publishing companies. Or you could self-publish and then worry about how to advertise and promote it yourself, but you should try the publishers first. I'm a level two and I think my advice is flawless. I'm also a published author, so I know best about such things.

You're welcome.

You need a literary agent. Look for one who reps books of your genre. Good luck.
