My daughter wants to become a movie star. Is there any way of "getting noticed" besides picking up and moving out to California now. I mean not all actresses are from there so, how did they get there?

You don't need to pack up and go to CA just to be noticed. Buy the Hollywood Reporter Blue Book - it contains a list of all names of individuals and businesses involved in the entertainment industry. It has a list of all talent service agencies, image consultants, fashion designers, photo studios, etc. Prepare a bio of your daughter, photos - in various attires and looks, short acting clips...dance clips and music clips too if she does these things as well, throw them all on dvd or vcd and send copies to to each talent agency. Be advised, there are thousands and thousands doing the same thing. How you package the bio and clips will make a difference.

Another business - offer costuming services to production outfits - have your daughter's photos modeling an assortment of clothes and looks be sent to production outfits

Do these things without having to relocate.

Should you find yourself in tinseltown: be in business directly with producers and studios...open a catering service - he-he - at dirty cheap prices...and get access to everyone involved in production--- via the green room (green room is where food is served to production staff and crew). Have you daughter serve or do something that will catch the attention of an already captive producers and directors during their cofee breaks or meals.

Another thing that I would like to add: it is NOT cheap. You will have to fork over thousands of dollars to GET headshots, travel, dvds made, etc.

Unfortunately, unless you are born a Hilton you will not be an overnight success.

get a good agent...check out the acting agencys around your house...

I've got some friends who found an ex-hollywood agent that way, one who still has contacts in the movie world...

all you need is the looks, the acting (well...maybe :P), and a good agent.

Well, first of all, if she has school plays, tell her to audition, then she'll have experience, also find a good agent and see what he/she can do for you! Hope this helps.
