It is a question that comes to our mind once in a while. So what actually is outside of space and does it ever end? Even a better question; how did space get there?

Do not get information from scientists and so on. I want to know what "you" think about the question.

That makes as much sense as asking "where is the edge of the earth?", though such an "obvious" conclusion terrified sailors for centuries...

I think you should try posting this in a philosophical area, because that's what it is.

For my part, I believe that space is infinite, because if it were to end, that would bring into existence a boundary, limit, or some kind of border, which undoubtedly means that there is something on the other side.

but what could be on the other side? fluidic space (star trek voyager), or just more of space?

Is it something solid, spiritual? There would still have to be space of some sort, even if something else existed.

Also, what is space? isn't it nothing? Does it not just mean the actual x,y,z coordinates which allow matter and energy to exist in it? So, past the outer edges of space, the x,y,z would no longer exist, and therefore we would be in an alternate dimension. Maybe the zero dimension. (If the 3rd dimension is x,y,z, and the 2nd dimension is x,y and the 1st dimension is x, then the zero dimension is that which has no dimensions). This would link to my heaven/nothingness theory below .

The last thing I think of is that if there is no space after a certain point, that anyone/thing that travels there, would eventually drift into nothingness, and of state of no longer being. Along with this thought, comes the idea that maybe the edges of space is what has been known for so long as heaven.

Think of it, ancient peoples believed the sky was the heaven for earth, a spherical shape; so assuming that all of space is a sphere (the philosophical perfect shape) then the edges of the space would be heaven.

But of course, that's just my opinion.

Wrap your head around this. Space is finite. It has limits, and is constantly stretching out thinner and thinner each passing moment...HOWEVER...space has no edge or centre. It has no inside or outside. Space does not end.

You you were to get into a spaceship...say, a beefed up Imperial Star Destroyer, and travel towards to outer reaches of space at unimaginable speeds... what would happen? Would you eventually hit the edge and have to turn back? No... you would literally end up exactly where you started. Granted...you would need to travel about a billion times the speed of light to live long enough for the voyage, but space has no shape we can understand in 3 dimensional terms.

But as mentioned, who the #&%$ knows, really.

I do not think that we understand or can understand the universe and its nature at all. We are part of it, so it is possible that that fact excludes us from the possibility of knowing everything about it.

So i think that we can never find out exactly what we are living in because we are made that way- And that we should concentrate on living in the space we are in right now, leaving questions what might be beyond besides us. What would be the point in knowing how it began or if it ever ends?

As far as we as mankind know space is endless. Once we had the Hubble telescope we were able to see far beyond anyplace we had ever seen before. The end of space if it does end is beyond what we are able to see.

How space got there is a whole different question. Depending upon their faith or lack thereof each person with a different belief would give different answer. One of their answers would be correct, probably. I am not even sure of that.

The universe has always been there and will exist forever. It doesn't expand or contract. It has no center, edges, corners, top or bottom, in or out. Nothing is bigger than the universe. It is made of nothing, but it contains everything known and lots of unknowns. There are no numbers or words appropriate to describe it's size, and it has no shape. It just is. It wasn't created and it will never stop or end.

No one knows. There are plenty of theories on the creation of the universe, the most popular being the Big Bang, which says our universe is constantly expanding. That could mean there is stuff outside of it, but we're not sure. This theory would then imply an "end," I guess if it's expanding. But, again, no one knows for sure.

I believe the universe is infinite because some who seek the answer to this question as their sole purpose in life would say that the universe is constantly expanding at the speed of light.

I know that you stated in your question that you don't want scientific answers, but realistically science is the only tool we have to answer your question, so to answer your question, I believe what science has taught us. Keep Looking Up!

God made our universe and beyond ours there are 44 others backed up against each other like us the universe has always existed maybe portions of it weren't initially ready for life such as Earth but it was always here.Scientists without a spiritual base (which isn't their fault its their training) had to come up with some plausible explanation like the big bang theory but why is it so hard to believe that if God always was so was all of what God made? otherwise God is imperfect and that's both untrue and illogical.

for me, I guess... space is infinite. It was just there. There's not much to go on (but if u believe in God and creationism, you have a clearer answer). He created the universe from empty space (or chaos). I hope this helps...
