All I hear is static when I turn on my speakers for computer, and I've made sure nothing is muted, what could be causing this?They worked before, what am I doing wrong? My computer is win98 se, tower is an Acer, speakers areMLi699, is there a simple solution I am missing?

Have you moved your computer recently? Make sure the speaker lead hasn't dropped out of the socket on your tower.

When was the last time that they worked properly?

"What are you doing wrong?" - what have you done since they last worked OK?

My computer is a brick sitting on a rock with two trash cans for speakers. What am I doing wrong? Nothing. I just have not told you anything that I actually DID!

Did you try checking to see if the speakers are plugged in?

Try playing music from a cd on your computer and see if it was plugged in or if you need new speakers.

Make sure there are no other wires crossing you speaker wires.
Make sure all the cords are securly in their proper holes.
