hi guys

This subject is among the most controversial and the argument didn't stop since the war had finished.

If we want to know the correct answer we need to refute some wrong believes.

1- Israel was alone against all Arabs!!!!!

Israel wasn't ever standing alone in it's conflict with Arabs and if Israel was alone in this conflict it would had vanished from the first day, Israel is backed not only by the Americans but by the whole west and they are all committed not to keep isreal security but to keep it always victorious , so please stop making fool, we are confronting the whole west here not only Israel.

2- Egypt and Syria had attacked Israel in the holiest day of the Jews!!!!

I'm sorry guys, but when you steal the land of the others don't expect them to respect your holidays, second thing that Egypt and Syria were in a state of war with Israel and the war didn't stop since the war of 1967 except for a short truce for a few months however we Egyptians promise you all that next war we will ask the Israelis first before we go to war "when is the most suitable time and date for them to go to war??". and next time we will make sure that the Zionists had enjoyed their barbeque parties in their holidays before we go to war with them( I don't know how the west who bombed Japan with nukes and killed thousands of German civilians to force the Nazi to stop his aggression how they ask us to respect the holidays of this Zionist's gang who killed thousands of innocent people and took their lands by force) shame on you.

3- Israel was several times outnumbered by Egypt and Syria!!!

The Egyptian and Syrian armies both together are only 1.5 times the Israeli army when it comes to numbers but when it comes to armaments the balance is for the benefit of Israel a ( tanks, armored vehicles, mobile artilleries) and when it comes to the quality it turned really into a mockery and you can go and search the difference between Mig-21 ( the main fighter in the hands of the Arabs) and the phantom F-4 ( the main fighter in the Israeli side and this is only a small example and their are so many others.

4- the military operations:

we have two fronts:

1- Syrian front and the Syrian army had made initial success but due to the far superior Israeli air force they couldn't maintain their wines and at the end of the war they where behind the lines of October 6 after making the Israelis pay a grave price ( by the way there are three narrations for Israel losses in this war and to be fair we will choose the European narration because its in between the Israeli and Arab narrations and this narration says that Israel has lost 180 fighters and much more tanks compared to the Israeli narrations), so we can say that on the Syrian front there was no real clear victory for any side because the Syrian were still capable of fighting and they kept a functioning army till the last day of the war.

Egyptian front:

Until October 14 there was no single victory for the Israelis and they have lost the Bareliv line who cost them billions of dollars added to a grave causalities that made Israeli leaders to cry for American salvation. Starting from October 15 Israelis started to cross to the west bank of Suez canal taking advantage of the intelligence information given to them by the Americans and after their military arsenal have been replenished, the Israelis achieved some tactical winnings due to the surprise attack on the Egyptian forces on the west bank even though they couldn't seize any of the cities on the west bank and they kept wondering in the desert searching for any valuable achievement but they couldn't.

Encirclement of the Egyptian third army, this the only thing that made the pro Israelis to say they won the war, and this requires a lot of discussion:

1- Encirclement happened after the ceasefire and not before, so that although the encirclement wasn't an honorable military operation but even though this wasn't the reason the Egyptian accepted cease fire.

2- if we accepted that the Israelis where capable of completely cutting all lines of supply to the third army in a way that makes it surrender ( which is not true because the supply lines from gulf of Suez was still accessible) we can't ignore that the Israeli forces itself were also encircled but in a more worse situation because they were very far from their main supply and headquarters posts in the center of Sinai and their long supply line was passing through a narrow neck between the two Egyptian armies and they were surrounded in the west bank from all sides with a well trenched Egyptian forces that was two times the Israeli forces inside the gab.

3- the Israeli battle on the west bank was doomed for failure from the military point of view and the Israelis knew that from the start and all what the wanted is to improve their conditions in the after war negotiations and that was achieved with a great help from the Americans. When you look at the military maps at the time of ceasefire we will easily note that in case the war operations were resumed again the Egyptian could have easily destroy completely the Israeli force on the west bank and that's why the Israelis after the disengagement agreement they withdraw to 40 kilometers to the west of the canal.

4- President Sadat from the start knew that we are not fighting the Israelis but the Americans and the whole west and that's why the objective of the whole war was to shake the idea that Israel and the whole west in it's back can impose their conditions on us by force and can impose a humiliating peace on us and the war has proven that clearly.

5- for those who are doing their best effort to prove that Israelis had won this war let me tell you something, the biggest victory is to defeat your enemy psychologically because even if you was able to destroyed his military power he will rise up again and fight you agin. and its clear what this war had done in the Israeli psychology.

finally this war wasn't only a military defeat for Israel but a very big psychological defeat that will leave a non cured scar inside the Israeli community.

one last thing, this war was a hint to the future and to all Israelis, war is not a game, war is a tragedy and don't take it lightly again because next time the losses will be unbearable for you.
