We just got a new computer and are having trouble with outlook express 6. We dont have spellcheck as an option. People have told us the problem is due to not having a Microsoft program on the computer. Now we have downloaded the Microsoft Office SB Edition 2003 Trial, Microsoft Works 8.5 and all the Open Office software, yet we still don't have spellcheck. Any other solutions?? Thanks in advance :)

Have you enabled spell checking in outlook express?

To do this goto Tools --> Options and click on the Spelling Tab. Check "Always Check Spelling before Sending"

You might also need to customize your "New Message" window toolbar.

Open a new message in outlook express and right click on the toolbar were the icons are. Select customize and add the spelling button.

Don't use Outlook Express. Download Thunderbird. It is free and has everything built in. Also use Firefox as your browser instead of IE.

The problem may be that Outlook Express has to be part of the complete package and spell check will not work if Office is added later. That is just a guess.
