Wow! Hard to imagine - you've already tried the normal approaches.

Flush the bowl by dumping in a full bucket of water. This way there should only be a little water in the bottom. Let it dry a bit. Then dampen a paper towel with "Goof Off" or paint thinner and scrub the bowl. The solvent action should loosen the remaining bits of rubber. FLush well to get rid of the residue.

But a new plunger so you won't get more marks!

The best toilet bowl cleaner I've ever used is called Saniflush. You can get it at Walmart. It comes in a blue container with red lettering. Our condo caught fire a few years back and we had to move out for several months. When we came back the toilet was so nasty. I put some Saniflush in, let it sit or about 10 minutes and all the gunk came right off.

Put a cup of mouthwash in the toilet water and let it sit for about 24 hours; the rubber marks will then come off easily with a wipe.

Have you used Comet or Zud? They both should do the trick, but don't combine both products together. Use one or the other. Zud is sold in stores where the powdered cleansers are sold. Good luck, I hope one or the other works.
