One week ago I opened my laptop, turned it on and nothing happened. Screen is black and none of the keys work. The power supply seems to work as the yellow battery light is lit continuously as well as the blue power and internet lights. The computer has not been dropped or anything spilled on it. I thought it might be "asleep", but the function Zzz buttons won't work for me either. The only thing that I can hear is the fan. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, there are only a few things you can do with a laptop yourself.

One, try a different stick of ram. It is a possibility that has gone bad.

Two, take the battery out and try turning it on with only AC power. If it starts, put the battery back in and see if it works. If not, the battery has a short.

Three, try pressing down firm but not too firm on the case above the keyboard but below the lcd. Do this the entire width of the laptop. There is a chance that the LCD cable or Inverter came loose. Sometimes, but rarely, pressing down on that area can reconnect the cables.

Other than that, all you can do is take it in to have someone look at it.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
