Newborns lose weight after leaving the hospital, and in the month afterwards they are usually unable to follow a schedule well, period, because they are struggling not only to gain that weight back but grow a pound or two past that, as well.

I wouldn't encourage forcing your baby onto a schedule just yet; if your baby is hungry that means he needs food, he is FAR too young to want to eat for emotional reasons, like boredom, loneliness, etc. Feed your child on demand until he naturally falls into a schedule on his own; even formula-fed babies differ, some "Settle" into a schedule and eat every 2 - 3 hours like breastfed babies, others every 4 hours, and some vary for months between feedings.

Obviously, there's some things to watch out for:
1) Maybe you are mixing your formula too diluted, with too much water.
2) Your baby might simply be thirsty - some formula fed babies need to have supplemental bottles of nursery water too.
3) Rapid or slow weight gain in response to either too much formula or too little formula, or improperly mixed formula.

Don't be afraid to visit or call your pediatrician, it's their job to clear up any misconceptions and give you advice on what THEY reccommend.

Yes very normal and healthy too. I see it like this, if he drinks every drop of his bottle, add another oz to the next bottle. My daughter was 8 weeks drinking 6 oz. As long as their body keeps it down and they want it, thats a good thing.

It's normal for some babies & I'd say he's hungry & needs more milk, even if he is only 9 days old.

Yes that's normal. And if he starts finishing 3oz with no problem start making him 4oz. The hospital always told me to feed on demand not on a schedule.

It can be , but also the baby may be experiancing gas symptoms that may make him think that he is still hungry. My advise is give him an ounce and a half and them give him a good burping, let him finish the other half ounce burp again and if he seems like he wants more, then I would. Sometimes gas will make them believe they are hungry.

You do not have to be on a schedule..My son wasnt. Its not like you are not going to feed your child when they are hungry just because its not their next "scheduled" eating time! And 3oz..You have a healthy hungry lil one! Congrats!

yeah its okay. some babies want more. Both of my babies wanted 2 - 3 ounces of formula when they were that age. It's normal. But if you are that worried about it you should ask his pediatrician tomarrow.
