My Dad was diagnosed with MS. It got bad really quick and I spent most of my childhood helping my Mum look after my younger brother and sister, so she could focus on caring for Dad.
That made me grow up really fast. After he died I kinda regressed a bit though, went a little off the rails for a while.

My siblings and I were children of a Disabled WWII Paraplegic Veteran, and when he had his first heart attack (and we were all in either Jr. High or High School), we grew up really fast .. and decided to EASE the burden on our parents by getting jobs, helping out with expenses, and doing what we could to provide for ourselves and to help them as well.

My first job and having money taken out for taxes.
Becoming a tax payer made me grow up quicker and realize taxes are unfair and suck.
