Of course I have a dinner gong! How would my dogs know it was dinner time if not?

We used to have a "dinner switch". It was set into the dividing wall between the kitchen and the living room. Mum used to plug her radio into it and just as she was about to serve up, she would turn off the radio at the socket. Dad and I could hear this in the living room and would come a-runnin'. Mum could never figure out how we could magically appear at the kitchen door for our food.
