I always liked the term freelance, that means you get to take a poke at someone for free, right? LOL,
Here are some sites where writers gather in a forum. You should be able to find a gig by networking with these folks.

Join Absolute Write Water Cooler - lots of freelance jobs posted there. Also buy Writers Market and search the magazine section. C.

You need spell check honey, but that is ok we got editors for editing. I know a few publication looking for freelancers. Email me for editorial list. You may also want to search on line Writers Market.
