I'm in the same boat as you... found out yesterday
(my son's 2nd bday) that we are expecting #2, due Nov 19! I am racking my brain for ways to tell family in a cute way. The two I've got narrowed down now are.... (but i don't think i have as much family as you, but maybe you can improvise)
1. Picture time: Get your closest family members together for a family portrait and when the timer's going off, say "everybody say Sarah's (your name) pregnant!" Not only will everyone be stunned, you will get a great memory to keep of the happy occasion!
2. Bibs: I have a small family, so its easy for me to buy bibs with everyone's "role" grandmother, auntie, etc. Then I was thinking of making dinner for everyone and wrapping the bibs like napkins with napkin holders that are paper with the due date written on it. What can I say, I'm a sucker for soap opera moments!
The one that made my family cry (including my husband, and he already knew!) was when I was preggie the first time I got baby picture frames and put baby themed paper inside with the saying "picture coming soon March 31, 2005" when they opened the pictures, it took them a minute to figure it out, but the gasps and cries that came afterward were priceless! Even to this day, my Mom tells the story to all her friends!
Good luck! And Congrats!

Maybe a cookout or joyus occasion. Its something to celebrate and no matter how detailed you are with planning how to tell your family i can almost guarentee it wont turn out perfectly. They are your family so they will be supportive. I have a HUGE family and although there are like 32 grandchildren, 12 siblings and then some every time someone announces a pregnancy we are eststic for them because no one person is the same and it will be a great journey.
Best wishes and god bless

Throw a halloween party and dress up like a pregnant nun. You'll still have to tell everyone but you'll have a very realistic costume!
If you want to tell them sooner you could throw a kids party and let the kids pick out the name of your second born. Or maybe the middlename. ha. Either way I'd say a celebration is in order. Congrats

You could send a letter or card to each family. For instance you could write:
There will be one more member of the family for Thanksgiving
In the spirit of "the more babies, the better" we would like to announce our contribution for this year
We'll bring our own little turkey to this years Thanksgiving Celebration. He/She will be about 10 pounds, cute as a button, still gobbling, und can be given lots of love, hugs, and kisses.

How about just calling everyone and telling them? It's not unique, but it is quite effective and you get to share in their joy for you!
I think any other way is just silly, sorry. My sister received an email from her sister-in-law with their youngest wearing a big sister t-shirt. It was cute, but extremely impersonal.

Make a shirt for your oldest child that says "I'm going to be a big sister!" (or "I'm going to be a big brother!") and have them wear it the next time you're going to be with a group of your family members. Word will spread pretty quick.
OR you can take a picture of your child with the shirt on and send it in cards to your family members.

I would see if you can get little turkey cards made up an send them out and tell everyone that the turkey isn't the only thing in the oven. I think it would be cute.........
I wish I could have another one..one day!

Have an early thankgiving dinner with your parents and in-laws and while having dinner stand up with yur husband and say "We'd like to thank the Lord for something very special today as me and -(your husbands name)- are expecting our second child."
Within two days your whole famaily will know coz news spreads fast amongst relatives.
