Actually I am also tired of people trying to drag down Crosby who is fast becoming one of the elite if not the best NHL player in recent years. Yes he opened his mouth at the wrong time sometimes last year but he has grown out of it fast and has pretty much stopped. If you think about it when he did "whine" as people like to say it helps him in a way because last year I remember he kind of said that the officials weren't calling penalties on guys who were hooking and holding him and stuff but do you know what that does it stays in the back of the mind of referees that they have to be careful to make sure penalties are called when skillless enforcers on every team go after Crosby game after game. They guy is so important to the Pens that his "whining" helps him in subtle ways. Crosby is a very mature and responsible player for his age and to call the kid a "whiner" is a gross insult to his skill and maturity level as a player. I do not know why people don't call other veteran players who "whine" whiners like Shannahan and even Kovalchuk I mean alot and I mean alot of guys complain but they focus on Crosby because he is young and they think they can get away with it. Yeah when Crosby is beating the 2nd place guy for the Art Ross by 12 points you can see who the real winner is!!!

they had an article in Hockey News about Sidney Crosby about a month ago. and it was from the head of officiating, saying he will try and put a stop to this rumour that has been going around for the past two years. he said he talked to all the ref's that had a chance to ref one of Sidney's games and they said they can't believe how mature Crosby really is for being 18 and 19 years old.
he is the leader of the Pens and he is the one that will talk to the ref just like any captain does during the game, so no Sidney Crosby is NOT a whiner people are just jealous because hes so good at a early age.
and don't forget Crosby has been around the media and had camera's in his face since he was 13 years old, hes mature for his age.
and yes i know there's no captain on the Pens this year.
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

It is one thing-JEALOUSY. BTW, to the person who said that Gretzky and Yzerman were not known for their yapping is out to lunch. They grossed out officials to gain an edge. So did Forsberg, so did Mario...etc.
The problem last year was not that he was yapping at the officials so much but that he was doing it as a ROOKIE. Heaven forbid a rookie does it. In the eyes of some other players and some officials, you have to be around for awhile before you can do this. What they failed to realize was that Crosby was not a traditional rookie in the sense that his maturity level was way beyond his years so screw those jealous freaks and good for him when he becomes the youngest player to ever win a scoring race and he will do it with dignity and class like with everything else he does. Some fans hear something in passing and they run with it. Don't mistaken his passion for whining. Those who do are mentally unstable.
Cheers

Corey Perry is the whiner. Crosby's just taken some diving lessons from him. It wasn't so apparent in juniors, but he's been doing it a lot more.
You don't call a player for diving, they will assume they can get away with it and will continue to do it... Diving is ruining the game.

All great players let the officials know whats going on. Thats what makes them different. Is anyone talking about Pomerville (spl) the kid score more goals then Sid. No he dosnt stand out with a temper. What makes a player graet is being good in all aspects including getting calls.

I love Crosby, and think anyone who is trying to find fault with this kid is jealous. There isn't a team on this planet that wouldn't saw off an arm to have him in the line up.
I love my boys--the Sabs--but you can't have blinders on. Sid the kid is great for the game of hockey as as much as I LOVE my Sabs, I love the game more.
Go Sidney--except when you play the Sabres....

The guy that said Gretzky didn't whine--HA!!!! He was one of the biggest whinners around!!
As much as it pains me to say this, Bob Loblaw hit the nail right on the head.
His answer is 100% correct.

I agree. He's just too good and the only way to stop him is to do something penalty-worthy. I'd be upset too if I were him. He's there to play hockey, not to be molested by the opposition in an effort to stop a breakaway. He's the best around.
Let's Go Pens!!!

Bufsabres07 : jump off a bridge.
no one on the sabres has the same amount as talent or skill as Crosby does.
Anyone who complains about him is not a Pens fan. so you'll have some people that open their mouth and all you hear is...blah blah blah blah blah!
