You should connect to your router using the firmware that came with it. when you are setting up the router there should a space for selecting security options. choose the security protocoll you want to use then enter your password. once you do that you will have to configure the settings for that network on all of your wireless computers to mach to security settings for the network.

1. Go to control panel
2. Double Click on Network connections
3. Right Click on your network connection, select properties.
4. In the new dialogue box, check the boxes at the bottom of the window: Show icon in Notification Area when Connected.
5. Click OK (A new icon should be by your clock)
6. Double click on the new icon
7. Click on the Support Tab
8. Take note of the Default Gateway IP Address (This is how you get to your router configuration page).
9. In IE, access that gateway
10. You may need to refer to your manual for the login information, however, typically you can enter Admin and admin as the password

When you log in, you should see an area for wireless security, and/or password setup.

If that doesn't help, please refer to the Manufacturer's website for specific directions, that's the typical way we guide customers to access the wep information page.

You'll have to refer to the manual that came with your router to find it's IP address. For linksys, it's usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, then you'll enter that into your browser's address bar, and that will bring up the router's settings panel. If it asks for a username and password, the default is usually a blank username, and "admin" as the password, but again, it will tell you in your router's manual.

There will be an option in there somewhere that lets you choose a wireless security option. The options are usually WEP and WPA, with WPA being the most secure.
