wow so i take it you didn't make it very far in baseball? because you really know nothing about baseball. ask any hitter in the majors what they spend most of there time on, HITTING OFF A TEE. barry bonds says he takes 1000 swings a day off a tee. griffey jr. says 1500. if the best hitter ever says that using is a tee is important ill take their word for it.

The true point of hitting off a tee is to hit only the ball. Most people find hitting off a tee mundane because they hit the tee and become frustrated. The tee helps you hit the ball solid and squarely. Most major league hitters hit off the tee in order to maintain a true swing. As time goes a players swing actually gets off track. The tee helps players from developing bad habits and tendencies.

Its not dumb AT ALL.. when you first begin playing baseball or softball, Often, people have poor hand eye coordination. They can see the ball, but getting the bat head To the ball is near impossible for them, forget a ball going 50-90mph. Batting tees teach you how to get the bat to the ball and strike it flush.. now if you have natural ability and right off can make decent contact with an inflight ball, then congratulations, yer ahead of the curve, but most people cant and need help to learn, thats what the Tee is for, i know when i was learning my swing it helped me alot.

A batting tee allows a player to focus on grooving his swing for pitches in certain zones. You need to vary the location in order to get the full effect.
It works for David Ortiz, Albert Pujols, Tony Gwynn and Derek Jeter, so unless the argument is that it is too difficult for beginners to learn, I don't think I'd call it pointless.

No I don't think hitting off a tee is total pointless. First for kids under 7or 8 who have not mastered hand eye coordination. It also helps coaches to teach the proper way to swing. So I think it is also a way for all players to refocus on their swing. All games come down to fundamentals. Working with a tee you concentrate only on your swing. It is not a replacement for hitting the pitched ball. So yes it lacks execitment but it does have its purpose.

No, the tee is a great way to work on batting. I't doesn't matter how hard you hit the ball off the tee, what matters is the swing and the effort put in it. I think its a great to use a tee.

Mechanics of the swing. Keeping your head still. Eyes on the baseball. Making solid contact with a level swing. A tee is still useful for players of all ages.

I would recommend hitting the ball off the tee, rather than hitting the tee itself. If you hit the tee itself, the ball's not gonna go very far.
