It will run but not really well. I know because I had XP on my old desktop. I went to get the Windows Vista upgrade CD and when I FINALLY got it loaded... it was the slowest thing I had ever had on that computer. Im not saying that Vista is slow, im just sayiing that you will probably need a new computer. Thats what I did.

P.S. Windows Vista and the XP is pretty much the same thing but Vista has different shaped things than the XP. It's the same speed and everything...

You can. I wouldn't. I am running Vista Ultimate. I have 2 Gb of RAM and it is acceptable. It would be slow if you had no more than 512 Mb. Will it run? Yes. Will it run well? No.

i wouldnt recommend updating, 1024 mb of ram would be the minumum i would go with. if you can upgrade that it would be fine i think, word 2003 will work.
