It will run but not really well. I know because I had XP on my old desktop. I went to get the Windows Vista upgrade CD and when I FINALLY got it loaded... it was the slowest thing I had ever had on that computer. Im not saying that Vista is slow, im just sayiing that you will probably need a new computer. Thats what I did.
P.S. Windows Vista and the XP is pretty much the same thing but Vista has different shaped things than the XP. It's the same speed and everything...

You can. I wouldn't. I am running Vista Ultimate. I have 2 Gb of RAM and it is acceptable. It would be slow if you had no more than 512 Mb. Will it run? Yes. Will it run well? No.

No way is your computer ready for Vista you need atleast 1gb of ram and good cpu processor, like an intel core duo or atleast a pentium that i larger than 1.8 ghz

i wouldnt recommend updating, 1024 mb of ram would be the minumum i would go with. if you can upgrade that it would be fine i think, word 2003 will work.
