Dan Rather was a known Bush opponent..he bad mouthed BOTH Bushes and openly supported their opponents.
Rather LIED...he has admitted to liking the information so much that he did not verify it. Then after the Bloggers PROVED it false..he continued to defend it till it cost him his job.
Faced with leaving he tried a apology.....admitting he lied thankfully it did't work and after that neither did he.
Being that one sided I am sure that there were many other incidents along with the nightly SLANT he put on the news

Dan Rather did not fake the story on Bush's war time "service." No one knows who was responsible for this hoax, but one likely scenario is that it was neocons hoping to steal some of the thunder from Bush's dereliction of duty. I cannot help but notice that no one has been able to collect the $100,000 reward offered for proof that Bush actually ever fulfilled his commitment to the national guard.

I don't think that is the case at all. He made a fatal mistake in not investigating his source deeply enough. He paid for it. He is still highly regarded in the journalistic world and has apologized for his mistake. Why assume because he made this mistake that it was deliberate and he's done it many times? There's no basis for that assumption at all.
