Well in America we have everybody around the world coming here to help build the country and living here. We have so much that we think we are the master country and many teens in high school drop out because they could care less about what's good for them(I'm not saying all but only some). The Japanese are dedicated and they NEVER give up because whatever they do they try really hard at it. The Japanese culture puts them where they are today. In fact asian culture puts most asians where they are today in America. I don't think the Japanese are jealous of America for what we have because they have accomplished a lot. By the way Japan has only aout 30-40 gun crimes every year. Now compare that to the U.S. which has over 11,000+ every year.

I've never met an American that was jealous of Japan. Americans are normally too stuck on themselves. I have a Japanese daughter-in-law, and I have fallen in love with their culture. They are so very anxious not to offend. They are very respectfull of other people. The food is great. I love our little tea ceremonies together. She is very much into my grandchilds education. She has made sure little Stephanie has tap and ballet and will learn to play a musical instrument. The child is being taught English and Japanese. My dauther in law is very artistic with flowers, drawing and photography. She is an ace with computers and technology. She can sing. She has taught me quite a bit about alternative medicine. Vive la Japanese!!!!

Japan has been a Cultural Dynasty for many, many years, They too had alot of turmoil until they finally found peace through wars and negotiations. Japan was a formidable enemy during the war, and caused much pain, but they were smart enough to see that America had alot going on that would blend well with their standard of doing things in general. THAT is why Japan is the Great country it is today, success through co-operation. Traditions and goals similar to ours. Japan was and is a wonderful country. God Bless !!

I think what some might mean by "jealous" might also be interpretted as "critical". I love Japan. I've lived here for six years now. There are great things about it. Their incredible electronics industry is one. Their thousands of years of rich culture and civilization is another. But there are also things one can legitimately critisize.
With the exception of the automotive industry and electronics the Japanese economy has been in the toilet since the early 1990's.
Japan refuses to apologize to Korea, the Philipines and China for war atrocities in general and the sex slave industry in particular during and before world war two.
The education system focuses on the rote memorization of facts rather than the creative solving of complex problems.
Racism and discrimination against foriegners in general and other asians in particular is rampant and institutionalized.
Women continue to be second class citizens. (i.e. recently a government minister was critisized for refering to Japanese women as "baby making factories" in a public address on the declining population.)
I could go on, but every country has their problems and it's easy to pick. The issues above are serious for Japan and they should be addressed, but they are certainly not fatal. Am I jealous of Japan? Not at all. I love this country enough that I continue to live here, but critisism does not equal jealousy.

I'm an American who admires Japan's modern ways. I've not noticed much anti-Japanese sentiment in my life. Its a great place and I enjoy their style of humor.

i've had 2 japanese exchange students. when i ask my first one, what is american myth that he has for americans. he ask if all americans have a gun. i said no, i don't, because i have kids. i told him we think japanese are smart, he said, oh no, i showed him all the japanese stuff in my house, he said he did not know they were all japanese brand names. when my japanese exchange student, a girl, watched a movie, i can't remeber which one, but it showed american side of war against the japs.like when they bombed us in hawaii, she emailed me and said she was so embarrassed. i emailed her back and told her about the a-bomb and told her she is not the only one embarrassed, but now america and japan are best friends forever, she was so happy. she said for me to watch "letters from iowa jima", from japanese view.

Thanks you that you admire Japan, but please do NOT post like this kind of question?
If Japanese did this question, it is little insolent (I am not accusing you).
I mean "shouldn't post like this" in our feeling.
In Japanese feeling, we do not care how other countries think and say.
Oh ..yes the gadgets you mentioned. Especially for girls, there are tons of nice gadgets in Tokyo. They go crazy for shopping.

Yes, I agree. When Perry first sailed into the bay, the Meiji realized how much they needed to do to catch up and did it quite nicely.
Honestly, America scares me, it's such a warmongering country.
