My best guy friend just revealed to me that he likes me a lot. However, I already have a boyfriend and don't plan to leave him anytime soon for anyone. My guy friend just told me today that he wants to cease all contact (i.e. no hanging out, talking online, writing letters) NOTHING... I really don't want to lose him as a friend. He says it hurts too much being around me & wanting me & knowing he can't be with me. I understand that & thus plan to respect his wishes. However, I wanted to know if there was anything I could do because I really don't want to lose my best friend??

As much as it pains you dear to lose a friend, he must go his own way, if it is too painful for him then you, as his friend, must respect his feelings and wishes. He may go away and come back deciding that being friends, remaining in contact is better than nothing.

I think there is nothing more you can do because part of being his friend is wanting him to be free of all pain and sometimes as friends we may be the pain which makes us have to know when to back off and give them space. I think that he may come around after a while or he may be gone for a long time. If you have said all you can say and you have done all there is for you to do then you must let him figure it out on his own. Sorry but that is how it is sometimes. Good Luck!

He has his way of dealing with this and he has verbalized this to you. Respect his wishes and allow him his time and space to deal with this. Just put yourself in his place for a moment. He has feelings for you and he loves his best friend. You at this moment are in the best position because you have a dear friend that you love and a bout friend that you love and you will not cross those lines, but you have to realize the difficulty of the one who does not have you and watching you get and give affection that the wants to the other guy who happens to be his friend.
Allow the time to dilute the hurt and perhaps then you can all be friends in the presence of each other. Until then, let ther be peace.

I think that a friend is a friend for ever. If he does not understand that you love some one else, worse yet have no other feelings for, other than friends, he is not your friend and wants but one thing. You are his and probably always will be. You need to be happy. Sound like happy is with your current boyfriend, be loyal to him and let your soon to not be your friend, that he needs to be loyal to your boyfriend also. Looks like this guy is going to go trough life not making many friends. Or keeping them. Hope this helps. Will.

I feel your pain, I have to face that myself, maybe he's not ready or maybe he is going through tough times... maybe if you ask him what's wrong or why did he do that, maybe you'll get the answer
