brief summary is hard. Ill try

you get 6 cards each. The dealer gets "the crib". Each player throws 2 cards to the crib and is left with 4 cards. One card is then dealt face up .. the person with the jack of this suit gets 2 pts. If the faceup card is a jack then the dealer gets 2 pts

The nondeal throws the first card. The dealer throws next. Players take turn throwing until the toltal reaches 31 or nobody can throw a card without exceeding 31.
Throughout play, you get 2 pts if your card matches the previous card, 3 pts if your card makes a run of 3 in a row (345), 4 pts if your card makes a run of 4 in a row, 6 pts if your card makes 3 of a kind in a row
You get 2 pts if your card makes the total 15, 2 pts if your card makes the total 31, and 1 pt for throwing the last card closest to 31

After all cards are played, each players hand is used with the first card dealt faceup in the game, and again you try to make runs of 3,4,or 5, cards that total 15, or a flush (4 or 5 of a suit), you try to make pairs or 3 of a kinds etc

Each player does this for their hand and then the dealer also gets to do it for the crib

Score is kept with pegs. If you have 5 pts and you just made a pair, your peg moves to 7 ,.... then if you are the last card it moves to 8 .. etc

Hope that helps

These are the basics
