and how do you justify your belief in it?

This question almost belongs in philosophy, but here goes.
I am independent. Politicians are each subject to the will of their constituency and various temptations, whether right or wrong at the time. It is up to the individual voter to understand the issues they are voting on, the times they are living in, and to weigh the greater good against the autonomy, dignity, and liberties of individuals. In other words, think. Slavish adherence to any party line is tantamount to immorality. I would rather see someone consistently vote out the incumbent than just vote a straight ballot each time- at least they are operating on the principle that power corrupts.

Good question because it actually made me think about what my political ideology actually is. The nearest I can come to defining it would be anti-Communist Marxist, anti-Fascist democrat and international socialist with a healthy dash of cynicism thrown in for good measure.

As for justifying my belief - I don't. Some form of socialism has just seemed "right" to me since I began to think politically in my misspent youth.

I believe in no government intervention exept when needed. I think woman should have the right to choose an abortion if they want and gays should marry if they want. Is okay to have God in pledges and in our coins but not okay to have prayers in our school or teach creationism in our public school. Taxes are too high and welfare should be abolished and the death penalty should always be an option. Immigration needs to be restricted and we need a 1,000 mile border with troops guarding it. Freedom of speech to everybody even if they're stupid. Social Security should be an option not imposed on us by government. Affirmative action is wrong becuase is racism and discriminatory against the majority of the people. My ideology is basically Libertarianism with less restrictions on the market.

I'm a libertatian and a capitalist. I don't think any government should interfere with the day to day lives of people. I would also happily scrap nearly all forms of public service(NHS, social workers, borough councils etc), if it meant paying much less tax. I believe people should be allowed to do what they want to do as long as it doesn't harm others or break any laws.

Communism. When done properly, it can eradicate slavery, wealth imbalance, imperialism, poverty, and other social ills. There was far less poverty in the Eastern Bloc than outside. However, it is easily perverted. Stalin and those that followed him were NOT Communists, they were oligarchists. I do believe that a number of social problems could be solved by the implementation of a system characterised by abolition of classes, wealth equality, and nationalisation of industry.

I tend to vote left of centre as it is closer to my religious belief of love your neighbour as you love yourself. Which is known as the Common Good
