Just wondering what everyone has tried to use to induce labor, and what method is the most effective??? I had to be induced with my daughter and I want to try and stay away from the Pitocin this time if possible. Thanks!

When I was pregnant with my second my doctor, swept my membranes the first time was a Wednesday and the second was on a Friday, it definetly wasn't the most comfortable. After each time I would go walking for an hour or two at the mall. Saturday morning my mucus plug fell out, I started active labor about 4:15 and my son was born at 6:29pm. My doctor had also told me sex helps, since when you have an orgasm your uterus contracts. Since his father and I were broken up at the time, that was hard to accomplish. But I've had lots of friends that say sex, masturbating, and walking help. I don't blame you about the pitocin I've had friends that got induced with it and there labors were more uncomfortable and a lot longer. I know once I get closer to my due date with this one, I will definetly be walking and having sex as long as my doc says it's okay. Good Luck!!

Exercise is good. Sex did not work for me. Only time worked. My cousin was told to try some home made remedies and she would up in the hospital with a horrible digestive bout. She was in so much pain she thought she was in labor, , but no baby. She would have been better off if she had just waited.

I agree i was induced first time and it wasn't pleasant. Second time i took Rasberry Leaf tablets and kept mobile.

You could try the old curry trick I had a vindaloo two days before and I swear it worked. You could try sex also as semen has the same kind of properties as the stuff they give you to induce you.

Good luck

I was two weeks early with my first baby in december and I think its because I walked 2 miles into town. So I would suggest taking a long walk.

I was induced with my daughter back in Dec. 2005 due to the fact I was already dilated, if you are dilated they can break your water.

Leave it to the medical professionals. Relax, the baby will come on it's own time. Congratulations!
