First, the best poems and songs come from you, so I'd suggest writing a rap song about yourself first. You'll learn far more that way, and enjoy it far more, than if you have someone write it for you.

A little background on the genre to help you:

Rap gets its lyrical structure from a lot of different sources, including Beat Poetry and traditional African/Caribbean call-and-response songs. It relies largely on meter and on the stressed beats, and uses other devices like alliteration and repetition of words at the beginning/end of lines. Rap is supposed to keep going, and not be a disjointed verse-chorus-v-c-bridge-v-c structure (or if it is that structure, it isn't as readily apparent as it is in rock music.)

I'd suggest poetry books for learning how to write rap. Try Western Wind for a good explanation of these poetic devices. We used that in my senior-level poetry class, and I found it to be an easy, fun read, and helpful as far as what devices were used. Hardcover is currently the cheapest on Amazon; here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Western-Wind-John-Frederick-Nims/dp/0394312317
