What is the difference between spelling colour like this (colour) and like this(color). Why do some people spell it one wya and then another spels it the other??

Colour with the letter "u" is the British way to spell it. Without the "u" is the American way. Neither is right or wrong, and both mean the same thing.

For the most part it's just a regional difference, like saying Soda vs. Pop. In canada they also spell Center as Centre. Both are correct though.

Some people are British (colour) and others are American (color). There are other differences between the two peoples, none very important.

It is United Kingdom spelling and United States spelling.

UK: colour
US: color

The same with other words like:
harbour, behaviour

The "u" is the British/Canadian spelling. No "u" is Americanized. You know the Yanks like to shorten evrythng cuz its EZr. :)
