I can speak for L.A. since I once lived there: Pros: Good weather, even in winter (very hot in the summer, though!), lots of different things to do (you could go to the beach in the morning and to the mountains in the afternoon - literally; culture, restaurants, entertainment options for all ages), good transportation links to other parts of the country and overseas (direct flights to New Zealand and of course Hawaii and Mexico), close enough to Vegas that you can pop over for a day or a weekend, good job opportunities and high salaries, a cultural melting pot as L.A. is home to people from all over the world; best sushi in America; a real feeling of community in many neighborhoods, 24-hour supermarkets.
Cons: Sometimes all that good weather can be a bit boring (you miss the fact it never snows, the leaves don't turn in Fall and the buds don't come up in Spring), the traffic (ghastly), the lack of transportation options (public transportation is very limited and cabs are scarce, forcing you to drive everywhere), the high cost of living, pollution, high crime in many areas; also the area is prone to natural disasters such as fires, mudslides and of course earthquakes.

it depends where you live. Like anywhere the nicer places are the priciest. Inner city LA has smog and crime, but the high end beaches, such as Malibu or Redondo are beautiful but very expensive to live. Orange County is the land of beautiful people, with a beautiful climate. Although when you live here, the materialistic atmosphere gets old. Many people live in a little bubble and have no global perspective, but it is a nice place to visit. San Diego area is gorgeous and is probably the most laid back. All kinds of people and social classes live here.

Very nice weather. O live in the San Diego hills and I love it. I moved from northern California and I don't ever want to go back. It is about 77 degrees here today, sunny, slight breeze, birds are singing. I'm about ready to go out and read a book under the trees.

i dunno what exactly you want to know, but southern california is somewhat expensive for rent, but you can find certain cheap places. i stayed in san diego, and it wasn't that bad. if you ride the trolley or train, you save tons of money if you buy the all-day pass for $5, or even better the yearly pass, but i forgot how much that runs. it's fairly easy to get around since we had tons of transit means, but if you have a car, traffic is kinda bad at certain times. the weather is great, tho. it's sunny or partly cloudy most of the time, and we got sparce rain. the beach is right next door for a good tanning day and the temp is mostly 65-73 most of the year. people mind their business and the people you do get to meet are nice and laid-back.

We take the weather for granted. We are total wusses when it comes to rain, partially because of the horrific traffic. If it rains on a sunday and you go to church, it'll almost be empty. There way too many women wearing flip flops, mini skirts, and spaghetti strap tank tops. Smoothies and sushi are huge. Lots of different cultures and lots of stereotypes about each of them. Oh yeah and we cant forget the gangs, car clubs on sunday night, good weed always available and the huge amount of interracial dating

it's unbelivable... the culture, great weather (though it's overcast), the beach, and the laid back people.
