George Washington was not the first president of the United States. The first was a gentleman named John Hanson. In fact, there were SIX ( seven if you include Mr. Hanson ) other presidents of the United States before George Washington. He was simply the first to be elected after our current Constitution was ratified. Bet you didn't know that!
