Obviously their not. I watch football( american football) and football(soccer) and i can tell that a footballer is faster than an american footballer. I think americans think american football players are stronger than football players(soccer) because american footballers look tougher with the helmets they were and those clothes that they wear make their shoulders look so buffed.

All in all, I think footballers(soccer players) are better, faster, and stronger than american football players.

Are you stoned? First off, American football is like rugby, where different players on the field have different attributes. The offensive linesmen (the huge beasts up front on the offensive side of the ball) are not terribly fast at all, but their job doesn't require terribly much speed. Professional wide receivers, cornerbacks, and many running backs will all be faster than the majority of football (soccer) players. Some professional receivers and corners were Olympic and/or US collegiate sprinters. And while Thierry Henry will undoubtably be faster than any of them when you put a football at their feet, in American football you just need to run; you're not worrying about controlling the ball at the same time. Henry would get dusted by the majority of receivers and corners. The yearly NFL combine records 40 yard dash times of incoming rookies. Some of the better times include 4.17 s by Barry Sanders, Don Beebe 4.21, Michael Vick 4.25, Alexander Wright 4.09, Randy Moss 4.25. Compare that to Ben Johnson's 1988 Olympic 100m dash, in which he ran the initial 40 yards in 4.14 s. There aren't many/any professional football players who would be in the same neighborhood for times.

Your contention regarding strength is even more absurd. American football players (with the possible exceptions of kickers and some quarterbacks) are all tremendously strong. Their job requires it because they will be trying to strip the ball, tackle, push, and block each other. While professional football (soccer) players are stronger than average (anyone who's a professional athlete almost certainly has to be) and some of them (e.g. Drogba, Sol Campbell, Gattuso) are extremely strong, NFL players are all ungodly strong. Again, using combine statistics (and these are conservative to use because they're from rookies, and NFL players definitely get stronger during their pro careers), incoming rookies are measured on how many times they can bench press 225 pounds (102.3 kg). Picking some of the best rookie players (which are not necessarily the top bench pressers in the group), Brady Quinn 24 (He's a quarterback, so he's not necessarily very strong.), Joe Thomas 28, Alan Branch 33, Amobi Okoye 29. There aren't ANY pro football players who could match those numbers.

Now all this said, there also aren't any professional American football players who can do the things that professional football (soccer) players can do. But American football is a sport where strength plays a tremendous role in success, so American football players will be stronger than soccer players. Speed obviously plays a big role in both sports, so the average soccer player might actually be faster than the average American football player. But there are more specialized roles in American football than in soccer (I'm not saying that there aren't specialized role in soccer; I'm just saying that the roles are MORE specialized in American football.), and there are some role players in the NFL where raw speed is so important that the players for those positions will be faster than just about all pro soccer players.

In summation, I think your contention is kind of crazy. But even more than that, I think you should get over your touchiness about "American football vs. football." There doesn't need to be a "versus" in there at all. They're both great sports with great athletes who do phenominal things that the rest of us mere mortals can just watch in awe.
