Another alternative is for you to switch to being gay and you and your pal can live happily ever after.

I don't mean that as an insulting answer but to illustrate the obvious. Ask yourself if you can change your sexuality. If not, why would you expect others to?

You basically can't change you sexuality. Human sexuality has a neurological basis. You should be glad your friend shared this with you. Why would you want to change him? He is what he is and he will be happy living his life the way he was biologically determined to. Accept him for who he is. We don't chose who we are, we're just born that way.

Why do you feel he should change?

Do you often try to change people just because they're different? You might like to start on the left-handed ones next.

Remember, your friend has trusted you with something very personal. Honor that trust. Thank them for sharing this with you, & let them know your friendship with them has not changed.
Ask them if there is anything you can do to support them.
Don't change what you've done with them; keep being yourself...& doing all the things you've done with them in the past. Do not violate their confidence, unless they tell you it's ok to share this with others.
They are counting on you right now.

You can't do anything to help him 'change'. Where do you get off assuming that he wants to 'change'? With a friend like you, he certainly does not need enemies.

Just tell him you're sorry he's queer and you hope he has a good life. Then get
the hell out of there before he makes a pass at you.
