Yup. But then again, you already know that my family has a long history with naming kids inappropriately. After all how many people do you know have a brother named Richard Richards. I also have a cousin named Jack Schmidt. He has a son named Jack Jr., they call him little Scmidt. Whenever anyone asks where we live, I tell them next to the Schmidt house. Oh, by the way, did I tell you? He just recently got his air licence, he is now Pilot Scmidt!! I don't know which is worse when we go to see him. When we holler at work "Hi Jack," it brings security guards on the double. When we ask for Pilot Schmidt the security guards just double over.

Sounds ok. Only the older people will really remember the connection by the time he is in school. My son is named Richard after his father. People sometimes call him Little Richard, and we all giggle. The kids don't seem to get it. He's only 15 months, so it doesn't bother him.

Better to be a little Rich than a little poor. If Richard was poor, he could keep an almanac. Is his father a rolling stone who doesn't gather much moss? But on the bright side, with a name like Rich Little he would be sure to make a good impression.

Richard is a nice name better than Archibald and Waldo. My Great grandfather legally changed his name from Archie to Maxwell in the 1930s. i dont blame him he is 99 years old today

No, it sounds weird and old fashioned haha.
Nobody is named Richard anymore.. and what would the poor kid go by? Rich? [ew]. Rick? I don't like that either lol. So yeah I don't think that's wise.

if he likes the name why argue... so what if the nick names aren't that great. My uncle and my grandfather are both named richard... but my uncle refuses to ever go by dick... he only goes by richie... he's my unlce richie... and it's fine... if your best friend wants to name his son that, support him.. =)
