it's in the books...voldemort's dad is a muggle and his mom is a witch making him a half blood like harry...but voldemort hates his dad because when his dad found out his wife was a witch he left her and voldemort had to go to an orphanage...so he killed his father...along with other muggles...

A mudblood is someone who is muggle-born (non-magical parents).

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets -- Chapter 7, page 115

As for Voldemort --

His mother was a witch, born into the Slytherin "dynasty". She fell in love with Tom Riddle Sr. who was a muggle.

After her father and her brothers imprisonment, Dumbledore and Harry hypothosize that she slipped a "love potion" on Tom Riddle Sr. and they ran away together. Once she became pregnant, she stopped giving him the potion, figuring he would stay with her (that he'd fallen in love with her). He left her immediately and she became destitute.

She took refuge at the orphange that Dumbledore eventually found Tom Riddle Jr. in and gave birth. After his birth, she died.

As a result, Voldemort blamed Tom Riddle Sr. for his mothers death (though he felt she was weak as well), and his life at the orphanage.

Ginger C has it right...mud bloods are wizards with muggle parentage....Draco calls Hermione a Mud blood, right?

So, its neither a typo, and Voldemort is not stupid...his father was a muggle, who Voldemort was ashamed of...Voldemort also has it in against mud-bloods....not half-bloods, seeing that allmost all his Death Eaters and he himself is a half blood

Yes Voldemort's father was a muggle( aka a mudblood). Voldemort killed his father. Voldemort himslef is not a muggle nor mudblood, he is a halfblood, his mother was a pureblood witch. The term mudblood is used in reference to muggles by wizards who despise them, it is an insultive term. The term muggle is used to describe someone with no magical qualities (a non-witch/wizard).This is in the books and the movies.

a mudblood is someone who's parents have no magical powers. Tom Riddles dad was a Muggle but, his mother was a witch making him Halfblooded, not a mudblood.

hope that helps.

It is true. Tom Riddle / Voldermort 's father WAS a muggle. That is where his hatred for "mud bloods" came from, because his father left his mother. It may have been his mother that was a muggle, not his father, I don't remember.

its not a typo. voldamort hates his father, and tries to erase his (to him) shameful past by killing off muggles.

Um...no Ginger C, a mudblood is a person with one parent muggle and the other a witch/wizard. Mudblood and Halfblood are the same thing.

its in the books....the books explain his past, how he grew up, how he met dumbledore( as a professor), and how his hate grew for mugals... Voldemart basically hates what he himself is...he thinks purebloods are the best but isnt one himself....like hitler thought germans were the best even though he wasnt one
