I think you would like a razor blade better, I know I never liked electric because it's just too hard to get a good shave and they are lot of maintenance, or some can be. I would suggest you find a razor type that you like. If you are just starting shaving you probably won't have to everyday but you should. Nothing looks worse than a teenager who needs to shave, and you might as well get in the habit of doing it everyday anyway.

Yes cfab, you are right! Shaving with an electric razor from the starting is beneficial because you do not have shaving experience and if you will use manual razors then it may cause skin irritation and the chances of getting cut increases. Electric razors give a safe and clean shave and also keep your hairs smoother for a long time as compared to manual razors.

My husband said that before you use an electric razor for the 1st time save 1st then use the electric the next day my husbands facial growth was to long the 1st time he use one and he said it felt like the hairs where being pulled out instead of cut off. My husband also has never gotten bumps ( I think this mainly has to do with your skin and hair type). Lotions and after shaves are just a preference ... good luck

I much prefer the feel of a razor shave (as does my wife), but I use an electrc to keep tidy through the week.
If you're going to go electric, spend the money on a decent shaver. Cheap ones will only make you hate electric shavers.
I only apply moisturiser after shaving. Can't stand aftershave.

Nothing to apply on the face. I don't think it's closer than a razor blade, but it's getting 'closer' with better technology. You could put aftershave on your face after u're done, but it won't really be necessary, as u rarely have cuts on your face...i mean rarely. Bumps as in uneveness of ur skin? The only thing I can say to avoid that is to be careful while shaving there. It depends on how quickly your stuble grows back. It varies with people. I don't grow mine until a few days. Some guys get there's by the end of the work day....hence 'the 5 o'clock shadow'. Anyways enjoy ur inaguration into manhood. cheers!

This should answer some of your questions

My husband doesn't get razor bumps because he disinfects his razor(with alcohol) after every use which helps prevent those little bumps. He, also, said don't push the razor let it cut by itself-don't press down.
You're welcome
He, also, has a light beard and only has to shave every other day.

The differance between a razor and a short buzz is about a week's strengthen, so do not get too apprehensive. flow short, in case you want it attempt shorter, and proceed, till you flow 'oops, to short!'. Then wait a week and it is going to likely be effective. i have under no circumstances gone razor gentle, i'm no longer in my opinion as prepared on the seem. I definitely have gone right down to at least a million/sixteenth of an inch. women individuals rub your head _all the time_ even as its that short.
