Bleach plus ammonia gives the chloramines

NCl3, NHCl2, and NH2Cl

All are toxic if you have enough in an enclosed space. Ammonium chloride is not volatile and is not involved in the gas that is given off.

I know that if you mix bleach with ammonia you get poisonous gas. I accidentally did this once. It burned my eyes and had me gasping for air. As soon as I opened windows it passed.

Bleach (NaOCl), when mixed with ammonia (NH3), releases chlorine compounds which cause respiratory tract and eye irritation, & nausea.
this is why on containers of bleach you are warned not to use bleach with products containing ammonia.
