Im guessing you are asking if you can disconnect your broadband modem from your XP computer and plug it into your windows 98 computer.

Yes you can do that if you are using ethernet to connect to your computers.
If you are using USB then you will need windows 98 drivers for your modem.

No it won't do u any damage but u will have to check whether Windows 98 is supported by the ISP software that u have as you will have to install the software on your other computer.
If you can't best thing to do is download a registry mechanic on the machine that is currently running your internet and install it on your Win98 machine.
Alternatively you could take the hard drive out of the 2nd machine and connect it to your main machine as a 2nd hard drive and clean it up this way

This should not be a problem, you may need to configure the Windows 98 machine to recognise your broadband service, your router and ISP.

it will work ok.....but make sure you have a firewall and anti virus running first, there are still plenty of things in the airwaves waiting to invade your comp.
going straight onto the internet will do more damage than you are trying to cure.
just in case you have a router....you could just network the 2 comps and take it from there.

It should be fine - so long as the internet connection is recognised which it should be automatically.
