I am drowning in LIPA bills they are too high we use next to nothing. Can we have anyone else besides LIPA to check our meter . I cant imagine LIPA going against LIPA and saying the meter is mis reading... Jen

Compare your bills to neigbhors rates. Maybe you need to better insulate your house. Turn down your water meter tempature a few degrees and learn to conserve. You might be using more than you think.

If it is, they will tell you. Call them up and have them come out and check it. Someone might be tapped into you.

You can also have them do an energy efficiency review of your home. You would be amazed what seemingly small things can make a huge difference in your bills.

Lipa is all you have, although you can switch to gas or oil heat, that should lower the "sevice" charges....And of course you can install solar panals for a little over 10k, they will definitely end up paying for themselves.

Whoever LPA is, they are answerable to a regulatory authority which has inspectors. Find out who this is in your city or State, and ask them to inspect the meter for accuracy. Bear in mind that there may be a fee for this service. Most States require annual calibration of metering systems that determine a monetary charge. Contractors can install secondary metering in most States
