Simple. News stations will do whatever they can to get the highest ratings. What gets high ratings? Good looking anchors.

Though, some local broadcasts have pretty ugly anchors.

I know and some are so obvious, with skirts up to their widgets and I believe they need to do something as some are so ugly they could stop a train, the voices are a real turn off, like chipmunks...
