Why would they want to???

It's a bit strange, but there are adults who do. It's kind of their security. What's even stranger is there are teens and adults who still suck their thumbs! I think it would be embarrassing, but I honestly don't think they can help it. It's almost like an addiction.

Certainly they CAN, but it's a bit weird if they DO.
A few years ago, teens wanting pacifiers was a big fad in my little town. I have no idea how or why it got started, but the shoplifting of pacifiers in the store I worked in went up to an alarming level.
Of course, there are always those people who suffer from a sort of fetish behavior that makes them want to behave like an infant. I forget what the technical term is.

My late fiancee did this as a method to quit smoking. Healthier than all the sugar or worse yet, artificial sweetners in gum. It also gave him something to do with his hands, he'd hold it. It worked very well.

However, adults usually disguise the desire to suck or have something in their mouths - gum, candy, throat lozengers, etc. Just like a body pillow isn't a stuff toy...

The pacifier "fad" is often carried out by "ravers" in which case it gives you something to do with your mouth other than grind your teeth... depends on the drugs you take. I'll say no more on that subject.

Adults can DO whatever they want to. The problem with most adults these days is that they are unwilling to accept the consequences that go along with being able to do what they choose.

Are adults capable of sucking on pacifiers? Sure, why not? However, I don't think it's developmentally age appropriate or psychologically a good idea.

Truthfully, yes they can. some adults find it soothing, no different than a stuffed animal or other soothing object or action. Its highly unrecommended as it can push teeth back and cause a number of other problems. Mostly, though any adult you see with a pacifier is usually chewing on it, witch is an oral gratification.

That is sad that an adult would suck on a pacifeir. Be an adult and grow up.

Sucking on a pacifier is a soothing way to calm down for a child but when you are growing up you should find other way to sooth yourself unless you never got over that stage in your childhood.

If that is what you like. I knew a teenage girl a few years back that drank her Dr. Pepper out of a baby bottle. Some people are weird.

Why? I am sure that it can cause the same problems in adults that it causes in children. They can cause lots of problems with your teeth.
