Unfortunately we are still a curiosity to Joe Public, although recently media representation has become more positive about our plight.
People are scared of what they don;t understand and often curious, basic human qualities but unfortunately more primal than socially conditioned, hence the often associated lack of ettiquette.
It will take a sizemic shift to make Joe Public realise that this is about gender identity and not physical sexual characteristics per se.
There is no easy answer, living with this kind of crap is unfortunately something we just have to cope with amongst many other things as transsexuals.

You are absolutely 100% correct!!! I would never even think about asking someone a question like that, and when people do it is because of ignorance and lack of class and manners that they do so. Crass, very crass.

i am a very open person, and i am someone who would ask such a thing. i am gay and used to being asked if i am, so i dont mind rude questions and if your a transgeneder or transexual then you chose that lifestyle and should deal with the reaction. if you dont like it then oh well.

I would say that it is rude. If you are interested in a tg, then you should expect anything. It is none of their business unless you are headed there, and if you are, let it be a surprise.
