Yes you can store 1000's of pictures on a DVD but if its just a DVD-R then you cannot keep wiping over them if you use a DVD-RW then you can keep wiping them off.

yes the only difference is a rewritable cd can be reused a writable can not

Yes you can use DVDs as data disks in the same way as you use Cd's - as long as your writing software supports that of course - most do

Yes you can, but you cant delete them after, so make sure you have a lot of pictures to put on them.

just burn the images as a data disc! most burning software you get is got it! and just burn it as if you where a cd
