I'm 36 weeks pregnant and have had a lot of complications lately related to pre-term labor (tried to have baby on Feb 9th.) Now I've noticed something new and was wondering if this was normal, or if I need to call the doctor about this right away (I have an appointment scheduled this week.)

I've noticed that the lips around my vagina are really swollen. They are puffy and feel dry. I recently lost my mucus plug and have been wearing a pad because I've still been losing bits of it as I go along. I thought I was just sore down there because of the pad, so the last two days I haven't worn one and I'm still very swollen. Is this normal? And if it is, what are some things I can do to help with the irritation that is being caused by this. I'm by no means actually dry down there (another fun part of pregnancy) but it sure feels like it on the outside because they are so swollen. Thank you :)

its just another joy of being pregnant. swelling of the lips are kinda common. you have extra blood flowing down around there. I remember when it would take hours of sex for that feeling but not anymore. lol

Ice has always worked for me. just wrap some in a washcloth and place down there for a little while. it should help with the discomfort .

As far as I no its defiantly one of those joys of pregnancy. sitting in a cool bath with some salt in always helps and ice in a cloth really does work wonders. also try to keep Vaseline or some thing like that on all the time to avoid any rubbing or chaffing, it really helps. still consult your Dr soon as possible though. Good luck with every thing.

I would try putting an icebag down there for the swelling.
If that does not help I would bring up to your doctor's attention on your next visit.

Yup, normal, I had it too. However, mine was by no means uncomfortable-quite the opposite, in fact. :)
