I tend to be selective in the anime I watch.
It has to have:
(1) Excellent animation/artwork,
(2) A compelling storyline
(3) And most importantly the characters have to be well written.
I love that anime/manga takes the time to go in-depth into the character's history and show why they act the way they do. That is probably my favorite part about the Naruto series; the character's back-stories are so well done.
My all-time favorite is Bleach - I am current on both the anime and manga. It completely satisfies all three requirments. The artwork is superior to any other manga I've read and I just adore all the characters. I love the interpersonal stories that are intwined within the main plot.

Well, it upsets me when people automatically associate anyone who reads it to be the people who get all phyco about it and dress up like the characters. I like the High school teen romancy ones because their stories are cute you can actually see the characters, and I think most of the drawings are really pretty. It is not a fetish for me and I hate being tied into those way extreme people. I treat it like I would anyother book...I read it. I also like how there is more variety in what series to choose from then regular chapter books and if you finish a 15 book series you have tons of others series to choose from and when was the last time that an author cracked out a 15 book series in a little over a year?
my faves:
Absolute boyfriend
Ouran High School Host club
Tail of the Moon
Punch!
Beauty Pop
Hana Kimi
happy Hustle High
Girl got Game
Crimson Hero
Wallflower
ETC.
I think you will understand exactly what books I like if you look them up.. if you can't already tell by the titles

I really think the main draws of anime are its counter-culture image and the chance to watch something that's actually different from everything else on TV. It's all new to us because so much of it is based in Japanese culture and traditions that anime is just a breath of fresh air. I'm not into manga so much and just got into anime in the past year or so, but I like the originality of the stories and the way that cultural differences come out when you're watching the shows made in Japan. Eureka Seven and Bleach are my favorites, and I've been watching Blood since it's on between those two shows on Adult Swim, and I like that pretty well, too.

I think it's because of the art, and the plots. Anime/Manga has a tendancy to have magical themes in it, which catches the reders/watcher's attention. And the comical themes in Anime/Manga is unique. I don't know what it is, but it's just so cool and unique.
My faves = Trinity Blood and Sailor Moon

My favorite is Naruto (used to be avatar, still like it tho) I seriously used to be against anime and stuff, but then i started not hanging out with friends as much as I used to (they were the influence of my dislike) and i watched these shows. I realized that they not only have morals, but very uniquie story lines that create suspence. As well as bypassing the boundaries of reality and somehow making it seem like a real-life situation. but in a different world that we wish we could be a part of. I guess you could says its really the way we all want to live, if you like those kinds of shows, where anything and anyone can cause anything to happen :).
The end lol, hope that helps?
WOO NARUTO :]

I really dont know why i'm soo obessed with anime/manga. If i had to guess I would say because its just soo damn adorable or if its a horror anime its really gruesome. Most anime is also very beautiful in the artistic and emotional sense.
But my favorite (as of now) is a shoen-ai called Loveless.

I love the drawingstyle and in some anime the moving style. My favorite is Naruto and the way they move in fights rocks. my best friend is in art school and she loves it because she can copy the drawing styles and learn new ones. the people also have strange looks (generally) which can be quite interesting and awesome (original...) powers. Sometimes even new animals. it's a completely different world where things are very different and you learn a bit more every episode/chapter.

I love manga. It's hard to put my finger on it, but graphic novels do what they do in a way that no other medium can. You can't get the same experience from a movie or a book. It's its own entity, and an end in itself. It's a beautiful form of art.
My favorite anime series is Fullmetal Alchemist.

1) Naruto Shippuuden
2) Naruto
3) Inuyasha
4) Avatar (it's not exactly an anime but it's a japanese cartoon)
5) Full Metal Alchemist
For your survey, Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden are the most popular anime/manga in the world. it's the best and everybody likes it (not everybody). in my opinion its the best. hope this helps
