If a person had a charge but the solicitor dismissed it . Would it show up on a background check?

I don't know about the U.K., but in the U.S. it would. HOWEVER, how it would affect you (the really important point) depends on what the charge was, and who was checking. For instance, one speeding ticket won't keep you out of govt. service even if it wasn't dismissed. But 6 would because it says something about your sense of responsibility. Hope this helps.

Yep, depending on who is doing the check. Hopefully the disposition would be shown along with the charge. Just make sure that you keep the disposition some place where you can find it in case you need to prove that the case was dismissed.
