The most important factor is her desire to quit. If you are the one who insists she stop, it won't work. I have found that a girl's vanity sometimes wins out when looking for reasons to stop. Her hair smells bad as does her breath and possibly her clothes, certainly coats during winter months. If you can find a nice and gentle way of telling her how that would change and how her teeth could be whitened, etc. etc. that might lead her to Nicoderm or any aide that is working now.
Emphasize the positive such as "your hair will smell so clean and feminine" as opposed to putting it in the negative. But as I said, quitting is up to her, your resolve is great and helpful but won't do the job alone.

Something that helped when I was young was a picture of a lungs of a smoker and then a picture of thr lungs once they had been cleared of the smoking habit. Maybe you need a trip to the library together. Good luck.

How old is she? Did she just start? You can support her, tell her about the bad effects but in this day and age, I'm sure she is well aware of this. Being that you are a friend, she may listen, on the other hand, people who smoke, often become defensive as well, so be prepared and just let her know you care and that is why you are addressing the smoking. Try not to make a big issue out of it.

-get her to replace the bad habbit with a good one.

-usualy people stop doing something because of a bad experience and the natural reaction to avoid pain.

- i have seen some television shows that show what happen to how people look after use of drugs for an extended period of time, imagine a 14 year old using drugs untill they are 20... they look like they could have been my grandma with how old they look, so many wrinkles try brining the effects to her attention

Sometimes people do not really realize the consequences that come with smoking. Do some research online and have her look at it. Let her know that you are only concerned for her because you love her. And research the medication out there that are helping others quit.

well if you smoke stop and set an example just as the other person said.If you don't ask her is it worth it you can risk a lung disease or such like that.If shes doing it because she likes it find her another habbit. And lastly if shes smoking because it helps her relax and get her mind off pain tell her its not worth and take her to a spa and make her listen to some soothing music.

Nicotine, the alkaloid in tobacco is more physiologically addicting than heroin. I would do some research on line about breaking an addiction.
