My husband's ex, the mother of my step-daughter, dislikes me. I dislike her as well, but I try to be as civil as possible for the sake of all the children involved. She told my husband's friend that she hated me because she talks bad about me all the time and my step-daughter said "She never says anything bad about you." So now she thinks that me not saying anything bad about her is my way of turning her own daughter against her. Psycho...

It's all up to you.

#1---Make the step-daughter call you by your name, not "Mom."
#2---Act like a mother, demand the respect/obedience that a mother gets, and treat her with the love that you would give a daughter.
#3---Make a list of the things you like about her mother, and find ways to communicate these things to your step-daughter.
#4---That's all you can control. The rest is out of your hands---you can't change what you can't control.

I have found it useful to be extra-extra-extra nice to people who talk crap about me---either I win them over (seldom) or pee them off (which is great fun). You can win only by taking the high road, and there are many, many ways for you to lose this one. Play nice, love your man, and good-luck.

Forget her and focus on your family and treat the step daughter with love and kindness and that is how she will think and feel about you. Never talk about her mother in front of her. You can't lose.

people are freaks, just keep doing what your doing, sounds like it really gets under her skin, you not being on her level and all. She is obviously the one turning her daughter against her. The best revenge is living well!

It'll all come out in the wash,That little girl is brighter than you think! She knows what's right and what's wrong, she understands the situation really good, she knows who's who is! She loves the both of you as one. That's my opinion, I hope it helps in some way!

It looks like it's a no-win situation for you.
Just be the best you can be, and your step-daughter (depends on her age) will realize who is in the wrong here, eventually.

It doesn't make sense. Stay clear of her as much as possible. Sounds like real trouble down the road.

You're both better off not involving the child. That will only come back to bite both of you on the butt.

It sounds like she's upset because when you don't say anything bad about her, she has no ammunition against you.

She's just mad because she knows you out classed her. No one can win against that, it's the ultimate strategy. Good for you for knowing that.
