The PC I'm on now has Word 2000. To include a password when saving a file, choose:

File
Save As... (or Ctrl + F12)

In the Save As... dialog box:

Enter the file name
Select Tools from the menu bar
Select General Options
Enter password

It shouldn't be much different in different versions of Word.

What type of document? If it is a text document created in WordPerfect, you have the option of putting a password when saving. (not sure about Word?)

Anything else you can compress the file (.zip) and create a password when saving.
