I'd love to see accepting any gifts over $50 from special interests an act of treason. I've not found too many elected folks who think that is a very nice idea.
I'd love to pay more at tax time to cover the expense of elections rather than having us sold out to the highest bidder.
I'd love to see a database created for violent offenders who have used firearms in the commission of a felony. Those guys wouldn't be able to by firearms or amunition. We could make letting pistols get into the hands of people under twenty one a felony and then drop all of the debate over registering firearms. I'd vote for no gun registration if we could do that.
I'd like to have a couple of elected reps say, "entering the country illegaly is illegal. Get out and re-apply. Those of you who own property and have been paying taxes get to apply first. Those of you who belong to gangs or have broken the law... yall come on ahead... we've got a really cool deal on the front lines for you when you get out of prison. When you've done all of the above, you will be able to re-apply." None of these views seem to be flying at present.
Oh... and where the sam hill blazes is the political support for the electric cars we were supposed to be seeing? They solved the majority of the problems for range (putting them up to 300 to 400 miles per charge and getting them to quick charge) only to be dismantled while we're being sung praises over nitrogen fuel cells. Look into those things and you'll realize that they're talking a 20 year window and no cost effectiveness for production in sight. ... cool.

Many politicians I know of get blinded by power - and in my opinion that is how most wars and cases of oppression begin.
A good politician should love more, do more for the greater good, and open up his/her mind to ideas that may not be his or her own - if these serve the greater good.
A good politician ought to realise that what he has a lot of is responsibility to fulfil, not power to seize.
It is definitely possible to have politicians like that in our world and it really works! Look at politicians like Gandhi or Nelson Mandela and how much they have done! =)

Yes I support taking steps to return more power to the people. To improve oversight, and encourage swift investigation and prosecution for illegal government activity at any level.
We must come together as a people, and set aside our differences on hot lunches and welfare and gay rights and everything else that distracts us from the slow stripping away of the essence of our liberty. Nothing is of more importance than taking back the country from the hands of the power that has seized it.
That power is far reaching and evil. It crosses party lines and corrupts all who are exposed to it. It must be stopped.

Yes! having a working class assembly sitting in the house of commons with the same rights as MPs. That way we the working classes would be truly represented at Westminster.

I think that our elections are too limited. We need more than two candidates to choose from, instead of our democrat/republican system. We do have other candidates that run, Nader for example, but if you vote for an independent, its what is considered a "throw away vote." I suggest that we make the Democrat and Republican parties split up, so we have three groups of Republican candidates and Democrat candidates. I think if we took this approach, it may open up and break away from our mainly two party system.

We haven't had a true free society since before the Civil War.
Getting rid of the unpatriotic Patriot Act would be a good start.

Our society is probably as free as it can be, though I wish the states were allowed to make more decisions without the interference of the national government.

Yes, I have ideas, but they always end up with some sort of bloodbath, involving politicians.
I guess, I'd make a lousy politician.

Reference the Constitution before voting on a bill. It's a great idea, and precious few seem to use it.
