We have been TTC for roughly a year. I use ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor so it uses the first morning urine. I aslo do BBT (which while taking CLOMID, isn't accurate) so I want to use a OPK in the afternoon/evening.

When should I use it? I take use the FM at 6 am-ish so after 6 pm? helpful opinions please

Your ClearBlue Easy is an OPK. I used the ClearBlue Easy FM also and had success with that. I was also using BBT which told me I was indeed pregnant...when my temp never dropped after ovulation. One piece of advice I can offer is not to do too much or stress over TTC. I know that's easy for me to say but I did stress over it and it took me over a year to finally get pregnant. Know when it happened? The second cycle after stopping TTC for a vacation. I wasn't trying and didn't even have good timing that month, but we got pregnant. I wish you the best of luck.

Here's what I've heard about the clearblue fertility monitor--when taking clomid and using it, it doesn't work. However, many women go ahead and use it but the results will probably be a little off--you will probably see many High Days instead of just a couple. After your last dose of clomid your temps will be normal again and you should very easily be able to detect ovulation--sorry if you didn't need any of that info, just wanted to share.

Now, your actual question--start using the OPK's about cycle day 12--since you take the clomid days 5-9 the earliest you would expect to O would be CD 14 so the earliest you may see a pos. opk is day 12. I really like the Clearblue OPK's and the Clearblue Digital OPK's are WONDERFUL but expensive. I would aim to use the opk at about 6pm each evening--hold urine for at least 4 hours and no drinking during that time.

You can use an OPK any time of the day (I would highly recommend it actually). The measurement will be the strongest in the am (as your hormones will build up overnight as you're sleeping) but if you don't pee for a few hours, you'll be able to recreate the same levels as in the morning. Good Luck!

Wow, that's a lot of gadgets, medications, and technology!

The best ovulation predicter kit I ever used was a *book* that taught me to recognize my body's fertility signals. Being in tune with my body, knowing when I was fertile and when I wasn't, helped me achieve pregnancy 4 times. :)

"Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler is a fantastic book to read; also "Your Fertility Signals" by Merryl Winstein.
