In this equation, you would use the pythagorean theorum.
A^2 + B^2 = C^2
[A to the second degree, or a squared.]
C is the hypotenuse, always. A and B are interchangeable, so plug the 10 and 24 into the A and B spots.
10^2 + 24^2 = C^2
100 + 576 = C^2
Add them together.
676 = C^2
Now find the square root of both sides, I'm going to use v/ in place of the square root sign.
v/676=v/C^2
v/676=C
26=C
Because 26 squared equals 676.

Two methods:
One, use the pythagorean thm:
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
(10)^2 + (24)^2 = c^2 (plug in, remember c is the hypotenuse)
100 + 576 = c^2
676 = c^2
c = 26 meters.
Or, know that {5,12,13} is a family of right triangles, and by doubling each side, we get that {10,24,26} is also a right triangle.
